Panzer-Division, Stu.Gesch.Abt.177 was re-assigned to 24. Panzer-Division, also of LI. Armeekorps, in the bitter fighting around Wertschtschj-Pesskowtka.

29 Nov.1942..... Attached to 44. Infanterie-Division, 6. Armee, during the severe battles around Barbukin.

9 Jan.1943..... Stu.Gesch.Abt.177’s final gun was destroyed while fighting around the Kotluban Station and, later in the month, the last 40 men of the Abteilung went into captivity with the rest of 6. Armee, Heeresgruppe B.

16 Mar.1943..... Stu.Gesch.Abt.177 was reformed at the Artillerieschule II, Jüterbog Truppenübungsplatz, Wehrkreis III, again with 3 batteries.

Apr.1943..... Transferred to the Orel-Bogen sector of the Eastern Front, Stu.Gesch.Abt.177 now came under the command of Heeresgruppe Mitte.
