Unteroffizier Wilhelm Stetter of 3./GR 915/352 VGD remember fight in Grosbous in morning of 22.12.44:

On the morning of December 22 we awaited the break of day before we marched off.We moved ahead at the right and left sides of the road,It was cold,and a light snow and rain fell.The Hetzers rattled along with us,their engines roaring.

Suddently we were fired on from a freight depot on our left.One Hetzer turned off and threw a high explosive shell into the building;then everything was quiet again.Suddently everybody shouted,"there,there!",to the right of the road,about 400 meters away,was a whole platoon of Americans getting into trucks.Slowly,much too slowly,the Hetzer turned its gun,and the Americans drove off and dissappeared in a dip before a shot could be fired.We went on ahead,the road curved to the left and led into the woods.The front Hetzer had just reached the bend when bullets from heavy mg's began to rattle around our ears.

Take cover quickly.A messanger hurried up:"Stetter team,secure!".

Shots were being fired from all sides now.At the intersection,on the high ground,i took up a position with my men.The Hetzer was still on the road.Beyond it a wild battle was raging in the woods.Nobody knew exactly where the enemy was.Then suddently a Sherman tank clattered up almost the bend in the road,still unseen by many of the men.The Hetzer did not seem to notice,and i shouted.

There!.A terrible detonation almost burst my eardrums,thick black clouds of smoke and oily soot rose up.Terrible screams were heard.The Sherman had smashed the Hetzer with direct hit in the side.One man of the crew lay screaming on the road with leg thorn off.Two of my men ran to him and dragged him off the road in spite of the fire.The Americans raked the road with bursts of heavy-caliber mg fire...

There's rather grim Hetzer story.They were most likely from Assault Gun battalion 352 of 352 VGD.They possesed 14 Hetzer's.
