On August 1st of 1944, Warsaw Uprising begun. During the fighting insurgents captured number of armored fighting vehicles. Tank destroyer Jagdpanzer 38(t) "Hetzer" was captured on August 2nd during the fighting for Main Post Officer (Poczta Glowna). It was captured by soldiers of 1st and 2nd company of "Kilinski" battalion. It was then towed away and "mounted" as part of barricade dividing Napoleon's Square from Szpitalna Street, between Sienkiewicza and Boudena Street. On August 5th, soliders from platoon "Chwat" towed it to the forecourt of the insurgent held Main Post Office.

Although significant damages to vehicle, insurgents managed to repair it. "Chwat" was ready for combat on August 14th but remained in the forecourt of the Main Post Office because its usage in other parts of the city would require the removal of few barricades what was not agreed on by insurgent commander of Warsaw Colonel Antoni Chrusciel ("Monter","Nurt"). "Chwat" then remained in the reserve. In the early September, Main Post Office building was bombed by Luftwaffe and "Chwat" was covered by rubble. It was removed from the ruins of the Main Post Office in the spring of 1946 and as ordered by Communist Government it was then scrapped.
